Mt. Kailash (6714 m.) and Mansarovar Lake most sacred Mountain - Holy Lake and very popular among pilgrimage for Buddhists and Hindus. It's located in a high and isolated enclave of West Tibet. It's called The center of univeres. It is one of the 3 pilgrimage sites in the area, known collectively as Kangri Tsosum, the other two are Ponri Ngaden and Lake Manasarover. All are said to be at the heart of the ancient Shangshung kingdom, the supposed land of origin of pre-Buddhist sect Bonpos. Mt. Kailash is their soul mountain (lari), which they also call Yungdrung Gu Tse (the Nine story Swastika Mountain). This is the very place where it is stated that the sects legendary founder, Tonpa Shenrab, descended from heaven to earth. Lord Shiva both the creator and destroyer of life is believed by Hindus to reside in the holy mountain .
Before opening Simikot-Hilsa Eco trek route used to travel to Mt. Kailash & Lake Manasarovar either via Lhasa or via Zhang-Mu. From 1993, travelers started to make tour to Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar via Simikot-Hilsa route frequently. This route is the shortest and most practical for trekkers in terms of both elevation and distance. The tour to Mt. Kailash commences from Simikot, which is situated at an elevation of 2910 meters and climbs up to Nara-La pass (4330 meters) before reaching the arid Tibetan Plateau. From Simikot, it takes 6 day's trek to reach the Tibetan border town, which is plenty of time to be acclimatized in high altitude.
There is no direct air service from Kathmandu to Simikot, so travelers generally have to fly Simikot via Nepalgunj, the regional hub of Western Nepal. Just take an hour flight to reach there and enter special trekking to Hilsa Border through old Tibetan caravan trade trail and crossing many times suspension bridge over Karnali River then driving amazing in highland to lake manasarovar and walk around mt. Kailash 52 meeter as a well pilgrimage is a good karma in this live. Overnight Camping on near by Mt. Shishapangma with it's stunning Views and cross down to kodari via high passes lalung-la pass is another highlight of this pilgrim journey to Kailash & Mansarovar Lake in Tibet.
